Let’s put your mind at ease.
How to Connect
1
Chat with a team member
The first step is a with a Houston Circumcision team member for a quick medical screening and Q&A.
This ensures that the patient is healthy enough to go through the procedure while the team member is able to answer the patient’s questions.
2
Meet with Dr. Kim
If everything checks out, then the team member will schedule a time to meet with Dr. Kim, either in-person or remote.
During this consultation, the patient can discuss their desired results (including all procedures), address medical concerns, and learn about recovery and aftercare.
3
Come into the clinic
On the day of the procedure, the patient should wear baggy pants / shorts and ideally have work & transportation arrangements made.
After the procedure, we will provide all the medication needed for a smooth recovery.
Take charge of your body.
FAQs
What happens during the circumcision procedure?
During the procedure, you will first be led into a room where you will apply a local anesthetic to the area that will be treated. After about 30 minutes to an hour, Dr. Kim will lead you into the surgery room for the procedure, which will typically take about another 30 minutes.
You will then be sent home with medication you need in order to heal properly.
Are there any medical conditions that disqualify me for the procedure?
Potentially. Patients that are diabetic or pre-diabetic have a risk of increased bleeding following the procedure, so we highly recommend contacting us with a copy of your HBA1C blood test results to see if its medically safe.
Will I feel pain during the procedure? After?
Virtually all of our patients have reported very little pain during the procedure itself - we use local anesthesia.
We do not do general anesthesia - we can offer a oral sedative medication for those feeling anxious prior to the procedure.
After the procedure, there will be mild to moderate pain once the anesthesia wears off - we will provide all the medication once the patient is ready to leave the clinic.
Is there an age limit?
No, there is no age limit: as you probably know, there are many that get circumcised at birth.
However, we do not do infant circumcisions at HC: we only accept patients that are above 8 years of age that are able to tolerate the procedure.
All patients under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a guardian.
How long is the recovery time? What does it look like?
Since we use local anesthesia, you will be able to walk and / or drive right after the procedure. We will provide the necessary medication on your trip home.
Depending on the patient’s aftercare, patients should expect an aesthetic and minimally visible line where the foreskin used to be. To ensure optimal healing, we recommend withholding from sexual activities for four weeks.
Do you do circumcision revisions?
Yes, we have often changed the look of a previous circumcision that the patient is unhappy with: scars, skin tags, or excessive skin are the most common reasons why patients choose to get a revision.
However, a revision does not fall under the typical circumcision fee schedule; a consultation with Dr. Kim is required so that he can take a look and determine the plan.
Can I return to work?
Although we recommend resting for two days after the procedure date, some patients choose to return to work the same day.
It highly depends on the nature of your job; if you’re moving around and lifting, then we recommend asking your work for days off: we can provide you with the documentation to do so.
Do you do frenulectomies?
Yes - A frenulectomy is the removal of the frenulum, the ridge of skin that connects under the head of the penis to the shaft that can cause tightness or painful discomfort. Many patients choose to have this procedure done alongside the circumcision for medical or aesthetic reasons for an additional fee.
Can you get circumcised at any age?
Yes - although we do have a minimum of 8 years on the low end. We do have patients in their senior years that want to get this procedure done: as long as they’re healthy enough for the procedure, there is no conflict.
How long does the procedure take?
After consulting with you for your desired aesthetic results, Dr. Kim will give his medical opinion on which procedure would be best fit for you.
Based on the type of procedure, Dr. Kim takes around 30-60 mins per procedure.
Will it affect the size of my penis? Will it affect the sensitivity?
No for both. Since we are removing just the foreskin, there will be no change in the size of the penis, erect or flaccid. To that note, virtually none of Dr. Kim’s patients have reported a change in sensitivity since most of the peripheral nerves grow back over time.
Can I travel to Houston to get the procedure?
Yes, a great number of our patients come from outside of Texas and travel to see Dr. Kim. The good news is that patients can drive or fly back home the same day (no bad news here). We recommend giving our team a call for ideal travel arrangement recommendations.
For P.E. Patients:
What is penis enlargement?
Penis Enlargement (P.E.) is a procedure done at Houston Circumcision that involves the use of cosmetic dermal fillers or the patient’s own body fat to enhance the appearance of the penis.
Medically recognized and minimally invasive, it offers a safe and effective way for what many men want: to immediately enhance the shape of the penis with very little pain and downtime and with long-lasting results.
How is the P.E. procedure performed?
We offer two types of P.E. procedures here at the clinic: the most popular method involves dermal filler injections at strategic sites to shape the penis to the patient’s expectations. If for some reason the patient would like to go a different route, we also offer fat injections which have been liposuctioned from different areas from the patient’s body. For more information, we recommend checking out the procedure section above.
What kind of results can I expect?
The results depend on what you’d like: Dr. Kim would be happy to discuss your desired results and design a treatment plan specifically for you to achieve your look.
With our dermal filler PE procedure, the results vary but typically lasts from 9 months to 2 years. The effects are correlated to how much filler is used.
What does the recovery period look like?
It depends on the type of procedure performed: with our technique, there is very little downtime compared with other procedures like grafts and implants: plastic surgeons prefer this technique for this reason. You can see growth the next day, with full results coming in two weeks.
With fat transfer, there is more downtime associated with making sure that the liposuctioned area heals correctly while making sure the fat fits into the desired shape. Dr. Kim can consult with you to discuss the two different options.
What is more important? Girth or length?
Studies (and general female opinion) has shown that girth is a more important factor than length in terms of sexual satisfaction (both male and female). Length over 7 in. tends to cause discomfort to the partner, while girth tends to increase the pleasure during intercourse.
